Born To Heal -Wendy Both- Peninsula Hotel Beverly Hills

Wendy Both is a Beverly Hills-based Reiki Master/Spirit Communicator and owner of ‘Reiki Heals’ and for
the past two years she has been the recipient of the ‘Best of Los Angeles Award for Reiki Practitioner’.

Born and raised in a very small village in Holland, to and Indonesian/Indian father and a Dutch mother, Wendy Both moved to the USA to pursue a modelling career at the age of
16. However, as everyone knows, a model’s career rarely lasts forever, so Both took a smart decision to pursue another completely different path, in tandem with her jobs in front of the camera.
“I have always been interested in natural healing techniques to help in various areas throughout my life. I studied and experienced homeopathy, acupuncture, nutrition response testing and worked for a period of time in the chiropractic office of Dr. Evan Berk, so Reiki seemed to be the next logical progression for me,” says Both.
Both was able to bridge the gap in 2011 when she started her formal Reiki training, becoming a Reiki Master in less then a year. “I found that reaching this level unleashed my true self, allowing me to live life to its fullest,” she says. “I’m the proud mother of an 11 year-old empathetic and spiritual daughter, who prompted my work with children. Reiki is beneficial for children because in the process, they learn about their body’s inner spirit, personal power and connection to the universal life force (universal love).”
Both says that whether it is for a person’s health, recovery or balance, experiencing the power of healing energy and helping others completes her sense of certainty in her life experiences. “My mission is to spread Reiki awareness to all, and to bring sacredness, passion and integrity to help others discover the magic and healing power of this vibrational energy medicine.”
This compassionate woman is not only known for her healing powers with humans, as she is also in high demand for her work with animals, predominantly horses, dogs and cats.
When asked what the benefits of the combination of Reiki and animal communication are, Both explains. “I use Reiki to restore a more balanced energy flow throughout an animal’s body, so that it can help heal itself whether physically or emotionally. Any animal can benefit from the healing aspects of this vibrational energy. With the communication aspect, the benefits are for both owners and pets. For starters it gives your animal a voice and offers the owner a unique opportunity to connect and learn about their pet on a deeper level. The clarity is helpful with physical and emotional issues. You’ll receive answers to questions such as what makes them happy, scared, or excited.” According to Both, for rescue pets, knowing what has happened
in their past can be exceptionally helpful to new owners. “There is a much deeper expression of love through understanding,” she says. “Used as an additional behavioural tool, this allows you to communicate to your pet the things you want them to learn and understand, without
struggling, forcing, or dominating them.”

Reiki can be given to any horse under virtually any circumstances, which means it is useful for fearful, wild or dangerous horses that cannot normally be approached. “Due to the fact that you don’t have to have your hands on the animal with Reiki, it allows me to help those who otherwise wouldn’t be able to get close to the horse to help or treat it,” notes Both. “Reiki safely supports other holistic healing modalities, including Western medicine and is a treatment to complement any veterinary care that your horse may be receiving. It’s such a rewarding experience working with these beautiful four-legged souls.”
The healer’s philosophies and healing successes are clearly evident through her client testimonials and awards. “Wendy is incredible; her power to heal with Reiki is simply amazing. I have watched her heal a multitude of dogs, horses, and even lizards – one that actually came to her with a torn tail,” notes one client. “But what really astonished me was the story of Little Bear, a small dog that was mauled by another dog. He had puncture wounds over his entire body – bruised, swollen and lacerated. It was all touch and no go for days. When a life-threatening bacterial infection lessened his chances of survival, I sent Wendy a message asking if she could send Little Bear as much energy as possible. He needed a miracle to pull through. If he could make it through the night with his body accepting the antibiotics, he would live. If not, unfortunately his fight would come to an end. Wendy worked her magic. The next day, the report came back that indeed he had survived and his body had accepted the treatment. Everyone had concluded that it was a miracle, but I knew behind Little Bear’s fight there was another force at work – Wendy’s Reiki treatment.”
For two consecutive years, in 2014 and 2015, Wendy Both was selected as the winner in the ‘Reiki Therapist’ category by the Los Angeles Award Programme.
Each year, this programme identifies companies that it believes have achieved exceptional marketing success in their local community and business category. These are local companies that enhance the positive image of small business through service to their customers and our community. These exceptional companies help make the Los Angeles area a great place to live, work and play.
The Award Program focuses on quality, not quantity, and winners are determined based on the information gathered both internally by the Los Angeles Award Program and data provided by third parties.
Says another client in conclusion, “Not only is Wendy an amazing healer, she is one of the kindest people I have ever met. I have known her for 20 years and she is as lovely now as she was the day I met her. It’s no wonder so many people feel the same way as I do.”

The Benefits of Animal Communication by Wendy Both

People often ask me what the benefits of animal communication are so I wanted to share some of them with you.The benefits are for both owners and pets. For starters it gives your animal a voice and offers a unique opportunity to connect and learn about your pet on a deeper level.  The clarity is helpful with physical and emotional issues. You’ll receive answers to questions like what makes them happy, scared, or excited.

For rescue pets, knowing what’s happened in their past can be exceptionally helpful to new owners. There is a much deeper expression of love through understanding. Used as an additional behavioral tool this allows you to communicate to your pet the things you want them to learn and understand without struggling, forcing, or dominating them.

We can also use this process of communication to connect with pets that have passed on.  Opening a new level of communication and healing for pets and their owners has been wonderful to witness as part of the Reiki Session. My mission is giving the animals around the world an authentic voice, helping them to be better understood and respected.

Reiki Energy Healing for Horses

Reiki is an ancient healing technique that is used to restore a more balanced energy flow throughout the body. It can be found in every atom, in both flora and fauna, in human beings, the sky and the air.  It is what keeps us alive. In my experience it helps bring the horses body back into balance so that it can help heal itself whether physically or emotionally. Any horse can benefit from the healing aspects of this vibrational energy.

Some of the benefits are:

  • Eases pain and inflammation.
  • Shortens the healing time after medical procedures.
  • Provides comfort and relieves pain, anxiety and fear for terminally ill animals.
  • Boosts the immune system.
  • Boosts energy levels.
  • Can help with behavior issues by promoting relaxation and stress reduction.
  • Supports different forms of transitions, such as castration, change of home, competitions and visits to the vet.
  • Enhances overall well-being.

Reiki can be given to any horse under virtually any circumstances, which means it is useful for fearful, wild or dangerous horses that cannot be approached. Due to the fact that you don’t have to have your hands on the animal with Reiki, allows me to help those who otherwise wouldn’t be able to get close to the horse to help or treat it.  Reiki safely supports other holistic healing modalities, including Western medicine and will be a wonderful treatment to complement any veterinary care your horse maybe receiving. Its such a rewarding experience working with these beautiful four legged souls as the bond forged does not just promote healing in the horse, but healing in me as well.  ~ Wendy Both ~ Reiki Master and Animal Communicator.

Why Reiki Is Ideal For Healing Dogs

Reiki is an ancient  healing technique that is used to restore a more balanced energy flow throughout the body. It works on the premise that all living beings have an innate ability to heal themselves and that disease, pain and emotional distress are all the results of imbalances — physiological, emotional or spiritual. By reducing stress and tension in the body, improving the flow of energy within the biofield, and calming the anxious mind, balance can be restored and healing can begin to take place.

Because animals are, by nature, so sensitive to our energy and non-verbal communication that we share with them, Reiki is an ideal practice for use with animals of any age, temperament and state-of-health.

During a Reiki session, most animals will become very relaxed or even fall asleep. While benefit can often be seen after just one session of 30-60 minutes, with regular treatments, Reiki can be even more beneficial and can often reduce symptoms of illness or discomfort, and improve overall quality of life.  Renowned Dog Whisperer Cesar Milan lists Reiki as one of the New Age Dog Treatments.

What are the benefits of reiki for dogs?

Reiki treats the animal’s body, emotions, mind and spirit as a whole. Reiki is powerful, yet wonderfully gentle and nurturing. All dogs, whether shelter dogs or dogs in happy homes, can benefit from the healing aspects of this vibrational energy.   Renowned Dog Whisper Cesar Milan lists Reiki as one of the New Age Dog Treatments.

• Enhances overall well-being.

Even healthy pets can have occasional physical, emotional and mental imbalances that, if left untreated, can manifest as illness. Reiki treatments can help maintain your dog’s state of well-being and balance. Reiki aids the body in releasing stress and tension by creating deep relaxation.

 • Boosts the immune system for Dogs with Cancer.

Cancer therapies compromise a dog’s immune system. Reiki strengthens the immune system to be able to deal with the additional stress. It helps lessen or prevent the effects of conventional cancer treatments and provides pain relief.

 • Shortens the healing time after medical procedures.

Reiki can alleviate and prevent side effects of conventional medications and provides pain relief and relaxation to help and enhance the body’s natural healing response.

• Can help with behavior issues by promoting relaxation and stress reduction.

Many behavior issues are caused by stress. Reiki has a calming effect on the pet and may help make the pet more receptive to training and behavior modification. Reiki is very helpful for animals with a history of abuse and can help release and heal those emotions. The gentle touch and the energy can help restore trust in animals who have learned to associate touch with being hurt.

• Provides comfort and relieves pain, anxiety and fear for terminally ill animals.

Reiki is an amazing way to help the transition for terminally ill animals and their owners.  It can help bring peace and comfort to you and your pet during this difficult time. Some animals will not allow themselves to transition because they intuitively feel that their owner(s)is not ready to let them go. Reiki really helps them relax so they are not afraid and struggling to stay a part of our lives.

Fashion Designer Donna Karan Brings Reiki to UCLA

UCLA
UCLA

Donna Karan started the Urban Zen Foundation with the mission to “create, connect and collaborate to raise awareness and inspire change in the areas of well-being, preserving cultures and empowering children in mind, body and spirit.”

Karan, who said she has practiced yoga since she was 18, was inspired to start advocating for Reiki, meditation and yoga in hospitals while her husband was suffering from lung cancer. “While traditional science has made miraculous strides in controlling and eradicating disease,” Karan said, “the key recuperative role played by promoting the emotional and spiritual well-being of the patient, along with the medical professionals and loved ones who care for them, has often been neglected.”

The objective of the Urban Zen Integrative Therapy program is to train and then to provide integrative therapists in hospitals, outpatient care, support groups and private practices who can blend the best of Eastern and Western healing techniques.”

UCLA is the first medical system on the West Coast to adopt the Urban Zen integrative therapy. The Hospital’s Health System caregivers are trained in providing the following healing modalities to address the symptoms of pain, anxiety, nausea, insomnia, constipation, and exhaustion:

  • Yoga – breath awareness, in-bed movement, guided meditation and restorative poses
  • Reiki – a Japanese vibrational energy therapy facilitated by light touch, on or slightly off
the body, that balances the human biofield
  • Essential Oils – volatile liquids distilled from plant materials used to rejuvenate the mind
    and body
  • Contemplative Care – cultivation of mindful awareness, emotional balance, equanimity
and compassion around issues of illness

Donna Karan and Dr. David Feinberg, president of UCLA Health System, hope that having Urban Zen at UCLA will persuade other hospitals to adopt the program.

UCLA has several other programs that integrate Eastern practices into Western medicine, including the UCLA Center for East-West Medicine, and the Mindful Awareness Research Center.
